Kindergarten is the year of movement! My students need a way to not only get all their energy out during sanctioned times, but also have that opportunity to move and groove while they are working on things in the classroom. Flexible seating not only gives my students the opportunity of choice when deciding on where and how they'd like to sit, but also provides a way to create differentiation and accommodate students who may require more movement and stimulation than others. This helps my students continue to work while they move and feel comfortable. I have seen first hand in other classrooms how beneficial flexible seating is for primary grades, and it would be especially beneficial for Kindergarten.
