Decodable readers are an educational tool that I would love to use to engage my students in their learning. Research shows that decodable books encourage students to sound out words as they are reading. This particular type of book would give my students the opportunity to apply the decoding skills they are learning in our reading groups to a book they will have access to at home. Due to the challenges of the past few years, my students deserve the best reading instruction. I believe that decodable books are an important part of the kind of instruction they need to become spectacular readers!
