This rug will be used as a place for my students to gather for whole group lessons, storytime, and morning meeting. These are all fundamental activities for first-grade students. Having their own colored square to sit in will give students ownership of their choices in the classroom. It will also give each of my students a place where they know that they can see and hear a whole group lesson, while still having their own personal square of space. This will make students feel more comfortable and able to focus on the learning goals for the day!
