When students feel safe, comfortable and at “home” the level of learning increases many times over. I want my students to feel this comfort in their classroom environment. The buzzing of the overhead fluorescent lights and the extreme brightness can not only cause anxious students stress but also cause any students to have headaches. I would love to offer them a calm lighting option so we can keep those harmful overhead lights off. I also want to encourage literacy by creating a cozy reading environment. By using new bookshelves, comfortable seating, and calm lights it will invite even the most reluctant readers to sit and stay awhile.

About my class
