Students are mostly visual, so we need a lot of paper to create illustrations for sentences and paragraphs. We reinforce grammar and reading comprehension using illustrations. We also use paper to make books for sequencing and further vocabulary enhancement. A favorite activity for beginning readers is to give a set of prepared descriptive paragraphs of people. The students cut them out, paste them in their books, then have to draw exactly what is written in the paragraphs. This is a way of demonstrating comprehension y doing a tactile activity, which of course the students love.
