These books and the novel study curriculum from Teachers Pay Teachers will be used to enhance and add diversity to the 5th-grade reading options. Each of these titles introduces a different form of diversity in their main characters. By being introduced to diverse reading students are able to become more empathetic and understanding individuals. My hope is to use these books and Novel Study units to make a more inclusive and understanding classroom community and student body. Each of these prize-winning books deserves a place in the 5th-grade classroom.
