These flexible seating options and tools will allow my kindergarten students to have choice and the ability to fidget or move while remaining in their own space. This helps students learn and increases engagement. The chairs will be used in addition to other flexible seating options such as yoga mats during our daily reader's workshop where students listen and respond to a story. The learners love being able to choose a special seat and this increases their focus as they learn how to listen and read for sustained periods of time. The floor spots, table spots, and other tools gives each student a reference point so they always know where they should be and gives them a sense of independence. This is especially important during COVID-19 as students need to be at least 3ft apart. I'm moving to a new classroom for my second year of teaching, so any support in setting up a new and inviting space is greatly appreciated!
