Kindergarten is sometimes the first exprience students have in a classroom and is a place where students build the foundations of thier learning and social skills. An engaging and colorful learning environment helps to ensure that a student is academically sucessful. A Learning Rug is a place for students to gather to engage in meaningful conversations, interact with the teacher and peers, and learn new content that will be the foundation of thier educational career. Having a Learning Rug for students to gather together, promotes engagement during whole-group learning, socialization, and inspriring collaborative conversations about new learning with peers. When a kindergartner is learning, it is important that they are close to the teacher with minimal distractions so that they are able to engage in the learning. When students are gathered around the Learning Rug, they are able to socialize with peers which helps foster their soical and emotional heath, which is impatitive for kindergartners. Coming together in a speicific place such as a Learning Rug, allows students to engage in collaborative conversations with peers. Rich academic discoruse contributes to engagement, higher order thinking, and new learning. A Learning Rug for kindergartners allows students to be academically successful. When gathered together, students are able to maintain engagement, socialize, and participate in academic discourse. A Learning Rug would be the perfect addtion to our classroom!
