The reading intervention supports that are currently in place mainly focus on reading fluency and decoding. This material will broaden the scope of support provided to struggling readers by focusing on reading comprehension skills. These targeted interventions will help these students to fill in the gaps of the traditional reading program. Every year, these gaps widen. This is the reason these materials are an important component for this program. Reading is magical. With these supports in place, students will discover the power of reading. It can take them to far off places or introduce them to new ideas. They just need the tools to comprehend what they are reading. Universal screener data and classroom data paints an overall picture of the student. Individualized instruction is provided and progress is monitored overtime. There are varied reading materials to meet the needs of each learner. It will allow students to engage with text at their level over multiple lessons. Not only do students need to learn these skills but they also need material to practice with. Students look forward to uncovering new reading strategies together. I want to continue that wonder and amazement with new material and lessons to further their reading growth.
