Last year we implemented literature circles into our high school curriculum. Teachers came up with quarterly themes- social justice, stories from the Pacific, and personal stories/biographies. Students choose a book they are interested in based on its description and are placed in a small group with a teacher. Students read the books online, but this year we are hoping students can have hard copies of books. The literature circles are a great way for students to discuss themes and issues that are raised by the books that they read. We are going to start this year by reading books related to social justice. Please support our school and this important project!
