Optimistically, we all want to go back to school full time in person, but only 40% of Tennesseans are vaccinated and students will be quarantined. Virtual learning simultaneous to in-person learning is the future to education that we have to be prepared for. Maintaining a virtual presence will be pivotal for the success of these students moving forward and it's the teacher's responsibility to make this possible. Teaching Algebra II in-person and online simultaneously requires technology fit enough to carry the burden of dispersing copious amounts of content, examples, lectures, zoom meetings, etc. to keep the classroom running. Being able to upload notes instantaneously in the middle of class makes learning for virtual students more immediate, rather than relying on a teacher's planning period or free time. I spent hours outside the classroom last year doing zoom meetings well into the evening because that was the only time I had to access my students. I would flip my laptop into a tablet and write out answers as students had them and immediately upload them onto Canvas for other students to access. The laptop helped to expand my capacity for teaching in a more immerisve, descriptive, and immediate way.
