Social and emotional learning (SEL) is what we are focusing on this year. It's about connecting students with each other and making them feel safe and secure before academics. Fostering relationships is the heartbeat of the classroom. Full-time online learning in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic has brought challenges in schools all across the world. This epidemic has stolen our children's school experience for the rest their lives. They missed their friends, their teachers, and the feeling of being connected.
Building a safe haven with sensory furniture will provide students with disorders better focus and less stress. Sensory stimulation helps fidgety children to concentrate on physical sensations instead of environmental stressors. Special needs children will feel safe and secure when cradled in a bean bag and other flexible seating. It also helps to open up the classroom environment and encourages collaboration without feeling constricted to a desk. Other resources will promote hands on learning to help foster relationships and student geared reading material to excite and engage.
