Support Ms. Boyd's classroom with a gift that fosters learning.
Even as a veteran teacher, I still have a small classroom library, mostly comprised of hand-me-down books from retired teacher friends. As an aspiring author and avid reader myself, I always want my students to love both reading and writing. I have a non-negotiable chunk of time for independent reading and a daily read-aloud where I get to read to my students. You may think that by 4th grade, students are over being read to, but my students look forward to gathering on the carpet to hear the day's book. I would love my students to be exposed to and be able to choose books from our own classroom library and see their love for reading grow as I grow our classroom library treasures with the help of this gracious and generous program of DonorsChoose. The items I chose to be funded are an abundance of rich books that are appropriate for the range of readers in my classroom. I believe the variety of books will spark a fire in their hearts to be avid readers themselves. I also chose a cart and bins to house our classroom library books. It is essential to gather all of the books in one area and the bins and carts will make our classroom library neat and organized and inviting for the students to choose from. I also plan to use the books for read alouds as well as mentor texts for our writing. I am grateful for this kind of program to support teachers and students.
By donating, you will be supporting my students to grow their passion for books and reading!
