In this tech-heavy day and age, there is no getting around the necessity of a computer. The good thing is that students LOVE using their tech, and have so much fun engaging in the online learning platforms available to them. I want all of my students to be able to fully engage in their online learning, and a huge part of that is having a reliable set of headphones so they can hear and understand what's happening. For students who struggle to read, having a set of headphones is a lifeline to independently read using text-to-speech tools. It also allows these students to have frustration-free independent reading time with the use of audiobooks. These headphones will be crucial for end-of-year testing so that all students can use the tools and supports available to them through the testing platform. Even though the students love their tech, I also want to give them ample opportunities to show their learning with art projects throughout the year. Being able to express something you've learned through an art project makes what students have learned meaningful and memorable. Integrating art into all subjects, and displaying student work in the classroom and in the halls, is a hallmark of our classroom. While I do have a lot of projects that use colored pencils, crayons, and markers, students love learning how to use new mediums. Lastly, some students need the ability to get their wiggles out while they are learning. It can be hard to sit in a chair for any period of time, so being able to offer my students some wiggly seating options if they are having an especially fidgety day will be an amazing way to help my students learn while also helping to alleviate stress.
