I had to removed almost everything "extra" from my classroom last year because of the pandemic recommendations of social distancing. My room felt cold, uninviting and not at all what I want my students to experience in first grade. With the change of recommendations, I would love to bring back the homey, relaxing and inviting feeling I pride myself on. I have always tried to create a classroom space that gets kids excited to be there! It's 1st grade, it should be fun! I love when students walk into my room on the first day and just look around with wide-eyes at the fun place they get to learn and play for the next 9 months! Incorporating colors and decorations is one way I've been able to achieve this! I have had the same hand-me-down classroom rug for 8 years! I would love a brand new (CLEAN!) rug for my students to enjoy sitting on for reading, working together and playing! I've missed my rug this past year as the room looked bleak with blue carpet, white walls and brown trim. Not all that exciting. I've also had the same bulletin boards for the past few years. They've gone up and I've never had the time to take them down. This year we had to remove everything for school renovations. I would love to take this opportunity to update my bulletin boards with bright new colors and themes!
