I will attend a 300-hour social-emotional wellness yoga training program that will equip me with advanced skills for bringing mindful movement, meditation, and manifestation into my classroom as a tool of empowerment. This past year and a half has been extremely difficult for all teens and especially those who rely on the school to take care of their basic needs. The Breathe for Change advanced training will give me the skills to facilitate an environment in which my students, who come from trauma, can learn to build self-confidence, self-awareness, and the ability to break the cycle of poverty. Mindful movement can empower youth by providing them with the skills for an intentional approach to the choices they make. Changes we make in the mind need to happen congruently in the body. Yoga and mindful movement nurture skills that promote neuroplasticity planting the roots for practicing responsible decision making.
