Third graders get really excited about learning new things, and these books will help them gain knowledge in a variety of science and social studies topics. We will use them as classroom read alouds as well as independent reading during reading choice time. Third grade is also where there is a greater emphasis on reading comprehension of nonfiction texts (not just literature and stories), so I am hoping to build students' understanding of how informational texts work. I also hope that these books will help spark interest in my students and give them topics they may want to learn (and read) more about!
