It is back to school time! For some students, this means the first in-person learning since March 2020! My goal is to create a learning environment with resources for each type of learner. I am a 4th grade reading and writing teacher who uses a classroom library that allows students to cozy up with a book of their interest. Adding new and engaging books from Scholastic will help the students have a variety of books to choose from. The overall goal is for them to find the love of reading. Teaching last year during Covid, classroom libraries were not allowed to be used, so students have missed the chance to hold on to a book, turn the pages, and get lost in the words. I was able to find digital resources and books for my students, but this takes away from the real book experience. I want students to take time off of devices and have more opportunity to read in the traditional way. We all have so much screen-time that having access to books can benefit students in many ways! A love of reading can happen to even the most obstinate child just by giving the student the choice of great books!
