A classroom library is an essential part of learning in the classroom. Students read for inspiration, pleasure, gaining knowledge, discovering their identity, and become better writers. In third grade, students begin to write longer narrative and informational essays. They also begin to conduct more independent research. Having a classroom library will help my student achieve this. My student has spent the last school year, and part of the school year before that, learning on a computer or digital device. I want them to have the opportunity to read physical copies of books in my class. Swiping through or book on a screen is just not the same as turning those pages! I have also included some basic supplies that I will need to get us through the next year of in-person instruction. I am starting from an empty classroom and need these essentials.
