Math and reading manipulatives such as counters, cubes, letter tiles, stamps and even Play-Doh help to support student engagement as they explore and learn to read, write and problem-solve in math. It is often said that play is the work of children. I am a strong believer in allowing children the time, space and materials to play and discover the world around them through various open ended and guided activities in work stations or centers. The Covid 19 Pandemic has limited teachers abilities to have children work together in small groups and share materials we normally would. These individual math and reading toolboxes will help me to safely provide materials and tools my incoming kindergarteners need to learn, grow and play.
