Walking into a new classroom on the first day of school is always nerve-wracking, and a challenge to overcome. However, walking into a classroom with vibrant colors, decorations, and resources helps alleviate that scary feeling. Funding this project will allow me to create a comfortable and familiar learning environment for my students, especially after being away from the classroom for over 2 years. This project has various resources such as flexible seating, learning games, and fidgets to allow students to take charge of their learning and focus on doing their best without any distractions. During independent reading times, students can choose where they would like to sit, including different tables, laying on the floor, and comfy chairs. Comfort and choice have made a huge difference in student learning. Items such as fidgets have been proven to reduce anxiety and stress and assist with fine motor skills and the development of muscles of small hands. Finally, making learning fun motivates my students and helps them pay attention and stay focused on the subject. I have seen how seating choice, fidgets, and learning games can positively impact my students' work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more.
