As a first year teacher I have high goals and dreams for my students I hope never go away. My goal this year is to make sure students feel loved, known, heard and they know they can make mistakes. With the supplies you provide, like the laminator and flip charts, you will give my first class opportunities to be heard by peers and adults alike as they create and preserve individual expressions of visual art, math concepts, letter names and sounds, and fill in those pandemic learning gaps. This laminator will also help develop a longer lasting Literacy rich environment with durable text by labeling the environment the students are immersed in. As well as simply to make reusable and cleanable flash cards for multiple subjects or helping students create educational games. As a first grade teacher I get to create an environment where creativity is encouraged and where students can build loving and kind relationships as well as make mistakes with their hands and minds.The counters and magnetic shape set will help make abstract shapes we discuss this year become tangible. These manipulatives will strengthen our large class discussions and small group building experiments where they will work on their social skills they didn’t get to practice during the pandemic. I have also asked for durable and reusable slip covers that I will be able to sanitize and use for various subjects and academic skills. For example: to have the students practice letters, CVC words and number sense or for me to be able to reteach lessons.
