Our classroom library is in need of new books for its shelves. I often read to my students in the library in small groups or on the carpet for large groups. These books will help my students learn about literacy, print, math, sorting, science, diversity, social emotional skills, and the importance of using their imagination. The children will learn that with the guidance of a book that they can travel anywhere or be anything. In past years reading books to my children have helped them through difficult times in their lives such as grief and abandonment. Children who are read to feel accepted and loved. Its important for us all to feel like we belong.
