Art is a hands-on way for students to learn, be creative, express themselves, and encourages a joyful sense of pride and ability to take risks. It doesn't matter the ability level of the student-every child is successful! We create special art projects each week that reinforces our learning with materials most of my students have never experienced before. With these supplies, students will learn different art techniques-like line drawings, splatter painting, tape resist, watercolor painting, model building, and collage building. At the end of each project, students share their artwork, how they created it, and what it means to them. This builds their communication skills and a connection to each other.
