The items in my project will help my first grade students because stronger readers. Our classroom library is currently full of books that students enjoy reading, but often the books are above their current reading level. I have sets of leveled readers in my project because these levels correspond with the reading levels they are tested on. Having these books for my students to read during independent reading time will help limit their frustration with reading. When children read books that are above their reading level, they get frustrated and that often causes a distaste for reading. I want my students to LOVE reading and providing them with the appropriate books is a HUGE part of making that happen.
