While technology is a tremendous resource that will often be integrated when applicable, classroom engagement is effective when students are physically interacting with materials individually, collaboratively, and around the classroom. As a 10th grade English/Language Arts classroom, students will have a borrowed copy of each book they read, which requires sticky notes for annotations. Sticky easel pads allow for cooperative idea-sharing. A set of colored cups for each student is a classroom management strategy that will maximize instructional time and nonverbal communication. Other basic materials will be used in a variety of ways!
