These materials will help students engage with STEM explorations that are hands-on and connected to our science and literature learning objectives for the year. The engineering and maker aspects of some of these materials sets them up to be engaged with science and take ownership of their learning. Having a class set of the first Harry Potter book allows our students to share in the imaginative journey of Harry and identify as problem solvers while growing in their literacy skills. I also see this series as tying into the mindset of being a maker and doer in their lives.
