As students return to face-to-face learning they are once more able to delve into STEM projects and the materials I've requested will allow them to focus on the "E" of STEM. They will actually design, build, evaluate, and redesign their own inventions. If, for example, a student decides to build a better mousetrap, she will draw a design, build it, test it, evaluate it, and then redesign it looking for ways to make it more effective or efficient, and then change the machine to test the redesign ideas. These materials will allow my students to gain real design and construction experience, become critical thinkers, and learn the thought process engineers go through from the beginning of a project to its natural conclusion.
