Whiteboards have become a staple in my classroom to increase participation, record while I model strategies, practice skills, and share their work. Students are more willing to share their answers in math without fear of being judged! Math can be intimidating and I can't tell if a student is understanding if I can't see their thinking. Whiteboards help me to see their process and allow students anonymity! However, the boards stain, markers and erasers disappear, the markers dry out and the ones that work cost a fortune! Nothing is more distracting and interferes with focus than in the middle of an engaging lesson but to have to stop and replace these materials for students! Students will be able to give 100% focus on their learning rather than if their materials will work or not! There is also the added bonus of increased engagement in learning using technology!
