Learning English requires connecting students to the language in manners that are engaging and use many intelligences. Graphic novels are loved by my students, allowing them to read what their peers are reading even if they have not yet mastered the language. And who doesn’t love a new bookmark to encourage reading or as a reward! Word games entertain and provide fun competition to the classroom to build community while students learn, reinforce and practice their budding skills. Finally, items such as expo markers allow students to use their own whiteboards or sheet protected pages.
