This year my students will be learning about how the economy works through our very own class store! This store will have a dual purpose of teaching the students how a capitalist economy works and also serving as a classroom management system! The students will be completely in charge of running the store. They will apply for jobs like store manager, cashier, stock checkers, and even marketing and analyst positions! They will be able to earn Crespo Cash by following all of our classroom and schoolwide rules, expectations, and procedures, helping their classmates, being kind, and by being responsible and ready to learn! This money, Crespo Cash, will be used to purchase items in our classroom store when the store is open. Only students in my classes will be able to purchase items from the store. Including items students have requested and are interested in will incentivize students to earn more Crespo Cash and will cause the supply & demand to work similarly to a real economy! As we continue through the year, students will be able to analyze which products sell faster and which products do we need to try to market more so that they can sell more! By getting this project funded, the students will have much more incentive to create & maintain a successful class store!
