COVID has been a disruptive and tumultuous few years for my students. They have endured virtual school, hybrid styles of learning and the fear of becoming sick with COVID or losing loved ones. This has handicapped a lot of my students, as they are more anxious and nervous than they otherwise would be. My students haven’t learned a lot of coping skills which come through a “normal” high school experience. Having calculators readily available for them to use to understand, persevere and master difficult higher level skills will lessen the anxiety they have endured these last 2 years.
