I have a class of 17 students--9 boys and 8 girls. My students are learning English and range in age from 8-10. They are reading from the first grade level to the 4th grade level. Many are from one parent homes and most parents have less than a high school education. We are part of a Title I school with 100% free or reduced lunches. Fifteen of these students will be the first in their family to finish a high school level of education and the first to go to college. They have plans for their future and I want them to see all the possibilities.
