Research shows that movement in the classroom and during the day increases students' ability to focus. By introducing my students to daily/weekly yoga, we can practice a healthy way to release emotions and behavior. Practicing yoga together will create a sense of community among my students while building their self-esteem and confidence. They will learn relaxation techniques geared for children that will benefit them throughout their entire day. The art of yoga helps to improve memory and focus and that can directly have an effect on a student's overall performance in the classroom. A well-balanced student will be healthier both mentally and physically. They will be more relaxed, able to focus on tasks at hand, better rested, and more positive about the day. When a student's body and mind feel good, their mood and behavior will improve.
