I have found that my students learn best while being able to collaborate and communicate within our close community. Whether we are reading a book, engaging in a number talk, or modeling writing and artwork we often come together on the carpet. I love to sit next to the easel, in close proximity to my students while they tackle new challenges by sharing and collaborating with one another! When I am up at the large whiteboard I feel disconnected from what is going on at the carpet and I would love the proximity that an easel would allow!
