Flexible seating gives students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them. It allows them to feel comfortable in their learning environment which, in turn, will encourage them to be more engaged in their learning. This will help students work more collaboratively and communicate better with one another than they would sitting in the traditional school desks and chairs. I want to elaborate on the student choice portion of flexible seating. For too long school has been simply the teacher telling the students what to do and the students must obey. I believe it is important for students to feel involved in their educational experiences and be able to make certain decisions that they feel will enhance their learning. Flexible seating is a great way to give students that autonomy.
