Glockenspiels are a valuable teaching tool in creating a beautiful melodic experience. As the students become more experience in playing barred instruments (other barred instruments include, xylophones and metallophones), we will be able to add more parts to accompany the melody. These instruments will be used in every grade level, from kindergarten to 5th grade. Adding glockenspiels will allow more students to play instruments at the same time, so they can gain more experience with the barred instruments. While glockenspiels are typically used for the melody, they can also be used in musical pieces that have a thicker texture (playing multiple parts at the same time). They can be used to add melodic or rhythmic interest or to play another accompanying part while the melody is sung.
