I want to create a classroom that is good for both the mind and body. Sitting in chairs all day can be uncomfortable. I want my students to find a comfortable way for them to do their work that is engaging, comfortable, and motivating. I believe my students should be able to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand. This increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. This burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds alert and focused. Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. I plan to start each day with play. I want to implement my new sensory bins and learning games. Sensory play helps build nerve connections in the brain. It encourages the development of motor skills, and the kids love it! I am developing a more student centered learning classroom. The new learning games will allow my students to independently practice skills in a fun, engaging way.
