There are many supplies needed for students to use daily to support their learning. As a first-year teacher I do not have many supplies to start the school year. I would like to provide each student with their own pencil box with pencils, colored pencils, and markers to start the year off. The classroom set of white boards will be used for small groups, as well as for students to participate and practice during whole group instruction. Students come to school with different backgrounds and different learning styles. Math manipulatives will give students an opportunity to participate in hands-on learning and support students in visually learning math concepts. In fourth grade some of the math focus standards are fraction equivalence, adding and subtracting fractions, fractions as decimals, place value for multi-digit numbers, area and perimeter. The items I have chosen will support students learning these math concepts.
