These desktop computers will support the software my students need to complete their schoolwork and pursue their passions. The students at this performing arts high school take classes ranging from visual arts, to video production, to graphic design, to music composition. Many of these classes require software programs that are not able to be installed on our current library computers or on student Chromebooks. Since this is a low-income school, many of my students do not have access to computers that are compatible with the needed software, and thus do not have an option to complete their work or work on their passions outside of school hours. The library is open before and after school, but because the current computers do not support the needed software, my space is not able to meet all of their needs. In addition, many students need to use the computer for simple tasks or online assignments. Our current computers are so old that they hardly turn on, so students often don't use them at all and try to complete work on their phones, or go back to their classrooms to use a Chromebook if they are lucky and a teacher's room is still open. I can be such a great resource for my students in helping them with their homework, and personal needs, but I am not able to provide help if I don't have the tools to allow them to access what they need help with. Please help me create a space that can better support my students.
