These hands-on manipulatives will give my students another method for learning. My kids (like many people) learn best from touching, handling, and using actual manipulatives. The self-directed play offered by sand or water tables, helps children improve their coordination skills, use their gross motor and cognitive skills, learn some fundamentals of math, and test out their artistic expression. The sand and water table will incorporate motor-memory and multi-sensory techniques. Students with disabilities often need to physically touch or try something in order to learn the concept best. The sand and water table allows them to explore with their five senses while learning and having fun!
