Help me provide my students with a brand new carpet for circle time! During COVID, a district wide health mandate was to remove all circle time carpets from classrooms. Due to this policy, my incoming first graders have never had the opportunity to engage in social emotional or academic learning with their peers in a circle time setting. This new carpet provides distinct seating spots (a lifesaver when you have large class sizes) and will be used constantly during Morning Meeting, literacy and math lessons, and independent learning time! During Morning Meeting we practice important social skills, such a greeting our peers by name, sharing our thoughts in complete sentences, looking our friends in the eye when speaking to them, and discussing read alouds! During our academic learning, students will now be able to easier engage with lessons taught on the smart board and on our anchor charts. This project is a large venture, but one I am very excited about as it will greatly improve our classroom environment! As this is my first donors choose project, all donations during the first week will be matched. Thank you everyone for your kindness and generosity!
