Before pursuing a career in teaching, I worked in the art field as a Photographer. This experience impacts my teaching philosophy: I believe that creative expression is an important and often overlooked area of a child’s development. Just like when making art, no student should feel afraid to share their thoughts or make a mistake. As a teacher, my goal is to create an environment where students can embrace what makes them unique, discover new talents, and channel their creativity into academic and personal breakthroughs. I believe a classroom should reflect the diversity of its students. With your charitable support, I will be able to create a safe place that supports each and every one of my students. Students will have access to multi-disciplinary ways to respond to work. The class library books will have books the culture and diversity of our world. Resources will be used so students can respond to prompts in a variety of mediums using UDL, or "Universal Design for Learning" principals. Most importantly, I will make sure no students are left behind due to simply not having enough. Every student will have access to materials, supplies, food, clothes, etc that they need. No matter what.
