I love to see students working together on a common goal. Respecting each other’s opinions and ideas during hands-on projects is an essential part of a positive learning community. Collaborative challenges help children learn from one another, while working through issues that may arise when they disagree. Last year students had spent so much time on Zoom lessons at home, I knew it was important for them to work together as much as possible once they returned. I incorporated more hands-on (STEM) challenges and saw such great results, despite COVID-19 restrictions! Now that things are improving, I’d love to continue these collaborative challenges. Working on the Build a Coaster and building structures from a "blue print" with the Building Brick STEM Challenges will help the kids learn how to work together. The alphabet beads will be a great way for the kiddos to practice spelling both sight words and phonetic words, then they can wear them as necklaces. As they walk around the room they can read each other's necklaces! The colorful clips will be used for creating patterns or addition problems as they strengthen their fine more skills. Thank you for helping my students become respectful, creative, problem-solvers!
