Drawing plays a big role in cognitive development. When students are drawing they are learning to write and think creatively, develop hand-eye coordination, hone analytic skills, and conceptualise ideas. Have you ever heard someone say “I can’t draw”? I have heard it all too often. I would like to create a space for all students, regardless of their ability, to use drawing as a way to practice their skills, organize their creative ideas and at the end of the year be able to look back and reflect at the growth they have shown. Drawing all throughout the school year students will be able to see their progress. This will boost their confidence in their artistic abilities and open them up to even greater learning opportunities outside of their sketchbook!
