These materials are books that focus on emotional health. I teach 5th grade which is the first year of Middle School. The students are funneled from 3 elementary schools. That in itself is very stressful for them As they have been with the same familiar face students for years. Addressing emotional health and choices is extremely important. Having students that are living without parents due to incarceration, death, addiction, etc, is prevalent. The way it affects students is unique. These books would be launch pads for discussions. Students can see their challenges in characters in the books and how they handle situations.
