It is my desire to focus on the well-being of each student through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and social skills development. I want students to have a place to come to where the environment does not look like the classroom. When they enter my office I want them to immediately feel the warmth and coziness of the space so they are reassured it is a safe place to express themselves. White concrete floors and stiff student chairs are not welcoming, appealing to the eyes, or comfortable. A large, spacious carpet coupled with fun, relaxing bean bag chairs with soothing colors will add character and a feeling of comfort to my office space and give students the atmosphere they need to learn how to best attend to and positively manage their social-emotional needs.
