Just this year we have started a Spanish dual immersion program in our school in first grade. Half of the day they are in my classroom where they are taught Reading in English. The second half of the day is spent in another first grade classroom where they are taught Math and Social Studies in Spanish. We have two immersion classes, so I have 52 students that I am teaching to read!! We have a lot of Spanish speakers, so many of them are learning English for the first time. Our classes are also filled with a variety of ethnic groups. We share our school with the blind and deaf students in our area. We have one full day Kindergarten class that started this year as well. Our school has a lot of new and exciting programs that we are trying to launch.
