There are a few passion projects evident in my project lists: art, reading, and supplies. So much of what we do today is driven by academia that is perceived to be very black-and-white. I want to build the gray in my classroom. I want students to find interests beyond math and science. I want students to love reading in an era where no one smells the pages in a book but grabs for a tablet instead. I want to embed art into my classroom so their creativity is never limited. I want to give them assurance that mistakes are progress. Lastly, education is always in need of basic learning supplies. I service an unserved population and platforms like donors choose are my opportunity to not have to ask families for what my classroom and students need. My goal is to create a space that brings safety, creativity, and representation.
