These engaging books will be used with ESLs, dyslexic, and students who struggle with reading and writing in grades 6-12. Having exposed seventh graders to Harry Potter during summer school is what gave me the idea to use these materials in my classes this coming year. The students were absolutely spell-bound in our reading of the text! For the majority of my students, this was the first book they had ever read in its entirety! I plan to teach mini-lessons on vocabulary, plot structure, comprehension, grammar, syntax, and response to literature with the Harry Potter materials.
